Today was seven weeks post-colectomy and my body celebrated by not having nearly as much energy as it had had in the days leading up but after a morning nap I didn’t let that stop me.
There is nothing like being able to recognize progress and that is what I have been so lucky to do over the last few weeks. In the last seven weeks I’ve gone from barely being able to get out of bed after having a colectomy to being able to hike up a fairly steep hill and walk for over an hour. I’ve gone from not being able to shake the ketchup bottle to loading/unloading the dishwasher. Accomplishments, however small, are great for boosting self-esteem and good moods. The best part is, despite having come so far, I still have so far to go, so there are a million more accomplishments in my future for me to enjoy.
The view from the steep hill was totally worth it.
