Some people find comfort in being able to see their output while others don’t want to see it until it’s in the toilet (and maybe not even then!).
Manufacturers make pouches with a couple different covering options including super see-through (think seran wrap or a really clean window), transparent (like a kind of dirty window or frosted glass), beige plastic that isn’t see through, and a fabric covering that is not see through. The descriptions I used aren’t the technical names for the covering options, but I think they give a pretty good idea of what the options are. Some of the ostomy pouches with fabric coverings have a “peep” hole slit that allows you to peek in and see your ostomy.
