The undy5000 is a great event hosted by the Colon Cancer Alliance that I never would have known about if Coltrane was not a part of my life. A few members of one of the support groups I go to had signed up to go so I figured, why not? I have always wanted to do a 5k. One of my friends was interested in participating too so we signed up and waited for the day to come. We thought we were going to get rained out, but the weather was on our side. As we assembled at the start/finish line, the emcee announced “Runners in the front, walkers in the back”. We looked at each other and wondered where we should stand and decided the front was as good as anywhere. We jogged the first mile and then walked most of the rest of the way. Some of the other attendees were wearing really cool outfits! There was a group of people that probably worked from Starbucks, wearing green capes with Starbucks patches sewn on different items of clothing. Lots of attendees were wearing their underwear outside of their pants – fun! Jogging the first mile and completing the 5k were huge accomplishments for Coltrane and me. Running/walking a 5k was such a fun experience, I can’t wait to do it again. There’s another 5k in May for the CCFA that I’d like to participate in.
Check out these super cool boxers that they gave us, instead of shirts. Pretty creative. I loved the energy of the event, so positive and full of creative, fun people and outfits. I’m looking forward to convincing more friends to participate next year and make cool, goofy outfits with me.
